Jamie Muscato
Jamie Muscato discovered her love for writing through her former blog, Commode To Joy (CTJ), where she found “happy in the crappy” and encouraged others to take feel-good shifts. At its inception, her son, Miller, was entering toddlerdom, and her days consisted of copious amounts of The Wheels on the Bus and capitalizing on nap time.
During CTJ’s tenure, her most read blog post, One Phone Call Can Change Everything, was featured on WordPress’ main site. International blog Positively Positive published many of Jamie’s pieces. She became a contributing writer for her city’s premier publication, the Decatur Magazine, and became its contributing editor.
Eventually, Jamie started an empathy card line through CTJ to give a physical presence to the brand. Radio shows and podcasts became part of the norm as she promoted the platform. Then, life took a turn, as it has its way of doing, and, ultimately, along with the ending of her marriage, CTJ also came to a close.
Now the librarian and K-5 technology teacher at Miller’s school, Jamie is reclaiming her online presence, not behind a brand, but as herself. An aspiring author, she has an undergraduate degree in education from Millikin University and a Master’s of Science in Educational Administration from Eastern Illinois University.
When not shelving books or charging Chromebooks, Jamie enjoys music, playing tennis, and true crime podcasts. She lives in Decatur, Illinois with Miller and their tuxedo cat, Rigby.
